The Excretory System for Platyhelminthes
The Excretory System removes waste that collects in the body during metabolism. Metabolism is when the bady takes in air, food and liquid. Flatworms excretory systems are a network of fine protonephridial tubules embedded within the mesoderm. Branching off of this network are the flame cells. These cells move fluid within the protonephridia. This systems main function appears to be to remove excess water from the body of the organism, although waste metabolic products also will be flushed out at the same time.
